Self-Defense Seminar National Charity League Southlake Chapter

We had an amazing time teaching martial arts, self-defense and awareness to National Charity League and its Southlake TX Chapter, Class of 2016.

This seminar focused on empowering all the girls with safety tips and simple and effective striking techniques.

On behalf of the National Charity League Southlake Chapter, Class of 2016, I’d like to say thank you again for your time and efforts today in teaching self-defense to our daughters this afternoon. The class was extremely pertinent to their age group and their world and it was clear the girls were engaged, listening intently to the lessons you had to share with them. While we hope none of these young ladies will ever encounter a situation that will require them to fight, our hope is that the information you shared on carrying themselves with confidence, paying close attention to their surroundings, using their voices when necessary and protecting their “personal bubble” will be forever in their minds as important life lessons that can keep them safe from harm.
— Heather Johnson, NCL Class of 2016 Grade Level Advisor

All participants learned learned about:

  1. Awareness and avoiding bad situation

  2. What to do when someone approaches you

  3. What to do when someone crosses your safe distance

  4. What to do when someone grabs you

All ladies also practiced effective self-defense moves on targets and partners as well as getting great tips, for example:

  • Put 911 on speed-dial or in your "Favorites" call list

  • Learn how to use your voice, because your voice is your biggest weapon, etc.

All participants also broke a real wooden board to test their strength and confidence. This seminar was a huge success!
